The main topic at our September meeting was a presentation regarding the purpose and value of the decennial United States Census. Our speaker was David Wakely from the Minnesota State Demographic Center. The slides from the meeting are available here. The video is available below (note that the video/audio cuts out for about 20 seconds at the 34:30 mark due to a technical glitch). During his presentation, Mr. Wakely referred to an interactive map showing past self-response rates to the Census in Minnesota, which can be viewed here. Darker blue shading indicates a lower historical self-response rate. Additional information about the work our state government is doing to ensure a complete count during Census 2020 is available here.
