Observer Corps Report - 6/11/2019 Dakota County Physical Development Committee Meeting

Observer Corps reports are submitted by LWV Dakota County members that volunteer their time to observe and take notes at government meetings of interest to Dakota County residents. While we strive for accuracy, these observations may be incomplete or inaccurate in some respects.

Minutes (not available yet) Meeting Summary: Two members of the community spoke regarding a concern they had with the Met Council. Specifically, they discussed biosolids that were spread and due to heavy rain washed onto properties and an organic garden. Discussion proceeded regarding the tight schedule for taxpayer notification and implementation causing great angst to the surrounding homeowners. While Met Council had the required permits, poor communication and long-term environmental impacts created concern. Thompson Lake upgrades were discussed. Historical markers and wording that is clear and accurate were discussed with county parks employees. Met Council Chair Nora Slawik was introduced. She is on a tour of the 7-county metro area and said that her job is to listen and determine her role as an agent of the newly-elected governor.
