Observer Corps Report - 6/11/2019 Dakota County Board Luncheon with Met Council

Observer Corps reports are submitted by LWV Dakota County members that volunteer their time to observe and take notes at government meetings of interest to Dakota County residents. While we strive for accuracy, these observations may be incomplete or inaccurate in some respects.

No formal agenda, meeting materials, or minutes were made available.

Meeting Summary: Board Chair Liz Workman welcomed invited guests to a box lunch discussion with some Met Council members. Four Board members presented the County's perspective and concerns regarding the topics of housing and shelter (Commissioner Gerlach), transportation (Commissioner Holberg), and parks, trails, and planning (Commissioner Atkins). All statements made by the Commissioners and staff were consistent with a handout (p. 13) reviewed at the June 4, 2019, General Government & Policy Committee meeting. Conceptual planning, the scope of projects, partnerships with counties, and communication between the Met Council and Governor were discussed by both sides. An invitation to return again was warmly received by Met Council Chair Slawik.
