Dakota County Seeks Input on Draft Changes to Solid Waste Ordinance

Dakota County staff have drafted proposed revisions to Ordinance 110 which regulates the disposal of solid waste. The text of the proposed revisions, a summary, and more information are available here. The County explains that if the proposed revisions are made, "waste haulers would provide weekly recycling pick-up and educate their customers each year on what is recyclable. Businesses and residents would be required to recycle a basic list of materials such as bottles, cans and paper. Multifamily property owners would ensure tenants have an opportunity to recycle. These updates are intended to increase the amount and quality of recycling materials collected." Comments regarding the draft revisions will be accepted until October 4 via email to Dave Magnuson, Waste Regulation Supervisor, at dave.magnuson@co.dakota.mn.us, or by phone at 952-891-7551.
