The League of Women Voters of Dakota County is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences policy through education and advocacy. We meet monthly and also host candidate forums, issue forums, and other events of interest to the community. Please attend one of our meetings or contact us for more information!

LWV Dakota County is partnering with Solar United Neighbors of Minnesota which is hosting an information session regarding a proposed solar co-op in Apple Valley next Saturday, April 28 at 2 p.m. The event will be held at the Apple Valley Senior Center, Yosemite Room, 14601 Hayes Rd, Apple Valley, MN 55124. LWV of Edina and Conservation Minnesota will host a panel discussion Tuesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. titled Red + Blue = Green: Bipartisan Solutions to Protecting the Environment. The discussion will be moderated by Tom Horner, former Independence Party candidate for Governor of Minnesota, and will feature three panelists:

  • Ann Mulholland, Vice President of Community Impact, Saint Paul Foundation

  • Gene Merriam, Commissioner, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, 2003-2007; Minnesota State Senator, 1975-1997

  • Rick Evans, Director, Regional Government Affairs, Xcel Energy

LWV Bloomington will host an Earth Day program regarding air quality Monday, April 23. Registration begins at 7 p.m. with the program beginning at 7:30 p.m. Speakers include:

  • Professor Peter Raynor, Division of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota

  • Jon Hunter, Director, Clean Air, American Lung Association of Minnesota

  • Amanda Smith, Air Policy Planner, MPCA
